Pilgrims came to US fro religious freedom (because they were protestants) - официальная позиция американского государства, ибо цитата из вопросника по гражданству
Now some people attempting to exercise their religious freedom complain over this place being too Christian. I wonder, did the pilgrims wanted so much as religious freedom, or just tried to create a protestant country...
Measure of success, you know.

Come on. It is just a myth. Pilgrims went to US. And they kind of agreed to have more religious freedom. Still, Quakers were prosecuted harshly by the Puritans. The same happened to the Catholics.

Pilgrims did indeed come to the New World for religious freedom. They didn't come for religious equality, however ;)

They came for their own religious freedom. It's not like they planned for the same for everyone else... A person may want to get out of jail but still be happy if his cell-mate remained there :)
