А можно вопрос по переводу из совсем другой области?
Попалось в книжке: There was a guard at the gate, and he checked my driver’s license before he let me in. He was an off-duty cop, but he seemed competent and alert.
И я как-то не поняла, это правда коп подрабатывает охранником в свободное время? Такое разрешают?
